Announcement of the soloists who have been engaged by the Salt Lake Oratorio society for the New Year's rendition of "The Messiah " was niade by Squire Coop at yesterday afternoon's after-noon's rehearsal at Bjrratt hall. Herbert Gould, basso cautante, will be brought to Salt Lake from Chicago for the engagement. Mrs. Partridge Price, soprano, will be brought from San Francisco. Miss Evelyn Beuhler, contralto, and Dr. W. E. Worley, tenor, of Salt Lake were also selected. Mr. Gould and Mrs. Price will be heard in this city for (ho first time. Miss Evelyn Beuhler i? a member of the Oratorio society and will represent the chorus in the list of soloists in this year 's Messiah. Lr. Yv'. R. Worley appeared ap-peared with the society three years ago. ' ' The Oratorio society lias divided the honors of the solo work in the oratorio ora-torio between home talent and imported import-ed singers," Mr. Coop said. Rehearsals of the. choruses are proceeding pro-ceeding with vigor, he declared. The men of the chorus will have special spe-cial rehearsal tonight and the women will meet Tuesday night at tho Consolidated Con-solidated Music company hall. |
