Show II SB BI FEDDEfljlF Ml John Elder of Ogden Is Dragged Thirty Feet by Interurban Train. Special to The Tribune. OGDEN", Dec. 14. John Elder, (10 years of agu, 1-iT West Twenty-seventh street, narrowly escaped death beneath the wheels of a Bamberger train at the corner cor-ner of Twenty -fifth street and Lincoln , avenue, at S:15 o'clock tonight, when he was run down by the train, hut saved himself by clinging lo the fender of the car. He was dragged about thirty feet before the rnotorman heard his shouts and stopped the ca,r. According to Walter Marl in and Ed Butterfield of the police department, who investigated the ease, Klder was cutting the corners of the street intersection 1 while the train was coming Into the city. The glare of the powerful headlight seemed to daze the man, and he was run down by the car. As Elder fell he had presence of mind enough to clutch the big fender, after both of his k-gs had been drawn under. He was dragged some distance before the niotorinan stopped the car. V. Kunkly was the motorman and R. C. Cody the conductor. Elder was taken to the police station for first aid treatment by Dr. E. H. Diunke. who found Elder's legs badly cut and bruised, but no bones .broken. After : his wounds were dressed lie was taken to I his home in the police car. |
