In the last issue of the Nevada Alining Tress is published the reply of the senator to an inquiry made by the foregoing maenzine in regard re-gard to 'the attitude of legislators toward England's request for the purchase- of 0t"i, 000.000 ounces at the war price: Senator Sen-ator Pitlman's reply is as follows: "The director of the mint under the Pittman act lias melted into bullion about o 00, 000, oiio silver dollars. This produced approximately 275,000,000 ounces of silver. Two hundred million ounces has been exported to other counl ries, nearly all of it going to India. 'While the government govern-ment is authorised to melt up an additional addi-tional 50,000,000 silver dollars, no necessity neces-sity now exists for it and it will probably prob-ably never he done.
