While suffering from nervousness and melancholia., superinduced superin-duced by the after effects of influenza of a nomber of months ago, Percy Marrit Giles, 37 years of age, took his own life at 'the family residence at 4 o'clock this morning, by sending a pistol bullet into ' his brain. Death was Instantaneous. His (body was found lying across the bed by Jhis mother a few moments later. The fatal shot was heard by Harrv Bag-:)py, Bag-:)py, a reporter upon the local morning .newspaper, a few moments after he had entered his home, which is next door to ; the Giles house. Bagley went to the aide-f aide-f iwalk and looked up and down the street r to see If there was a holdup. Seeing no ,one in sfght he dismissed the matter with the belief that the report was made by , an automobile. He went to his room and began to prepare for bed, when he heard Mrs. Giles scream and shout for :hls mother. Bagley hastily dressed and rushed to the Giles home. At the direction of Mrs. Giles Bagley t -went to the room occupied by her son, and there found the young man stretched , across the bed. Bagiey instantly sum-imoned sum-imoned Dr. Ezra C. Rich, who pronounced I the man dead.. The police were advised, iand, after a brief investigation, declared it was. a case of suicide. Mr. Giles had been a resident, of Og-dent Og-dent for the past ten months. He came here from Halt Lflke and accepted a position posi-tion with the Southern Pacific company as brakeman. . During the past two weeks he had been 111 and did not work. He was a member 'of the Knights of Pythias. Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was unmarried. Surviving him are his mother find two brothers, P. I. Giles, Salt Lake, and P. F. Giles of Uniontown, "Wash. He was born in Minnesota, September 2, 1SS2. The body was removed to the Tjlndquist undertaking parlors to be prepared for burial. It will he taken to Salt Lake City-Wednesday City-Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock, and the funeral services and interment will be hcki In that city. |
