Renewed strength developed de-veloped hi the corn market today owing largely to sharp upturns on the foreign exchange rates and To reports of irreparable damage to the oats crop. 'Die close was unsettled, c to lc net higher, with September at Sl.OO1 to SI. 00 and December $1.61 to Sl.flH. Oats finished 2c to 2c up and provisions varied from a 10c decline to a 30c advance. I'ntil the Inst hour a pessimistic view of economic conditions tended to keep sentiment bearish in regard to corn, and so likewise did the fine weather. Declines, however, led to an improvement in domestic shipping demand, with consequent buying on the part of shorts and commission houses. At this Juncture the fact that sterling exchange had risen to $4.4-1, after having gone as low as $4.1MVi, gave an advantage to the bulls. Meanwhile, the oats market wan climbing rapidly, and throughout the rest of the day the fact became more and more evident that for at least the time being corn had been oversold. Itadically unfavorable crop advices led to buy ins of oat a on a broad scale. Word that export bids for oats were out of line received but lit t lo attention. Provisions swayed with corn.
