Hart, and Assistant Church Historian Andrew JV risen ri-sen were th.e speakers at tho quarterly conference of the North "Weber stake, which was held in the tabernacle today, with c s 'j i o n s a. t 1 'J a . m . ami 2 p. m . Their talks were also on education, physical and mental. Religious instruction was also discussed. At the opening: of the conference, which was presided over by President James Wotherspoon, President F. "W. Stratford presented the quarterly report, showing all tlie warda of tlie stake to be in excellent condition. Short talks were made by Carl JE. Peterson, who leaves Tuesday for Kurope to fulfill a mission to Norway and Sweden, and by Miss Florence Telford, who recently filled a mission in tiie western states lor the church. President Hart spoke upon the advantages advan-tages of education as a:' forded by the church schools. Pie praised the We her Normal college and ured its support, specially stressing the value of the proposed pro-posed gymnasium, saying1 that the physical physi-cal culture is necessary to the well-being of the student. Apostle J,yman at the afternoon session said he hnd always been deeply interested in educational affairs, and, calling: attention at-tention to the fact that the schools open tomorrow, ho ursod parents to fjrivo their, children the advantages of the splendid 1 opportunities afforded them in the schools of today. He said some parents foolishly , discourage their children from going to j school, declaring educat ion a waste of time and a non-essential in life. He declared de-clared a hifh school education is the birth-, right of every citizen. The speaker took occasion to praise the purpose of the proposed pro-posed Weber college pyrnnasium.
