If modern laboratories and skilled specialists spe-cialists can find the cause and the remedy rem-edy for the Spanish influenza plague, then the Holy Cross hospital will find them. This is the belief of the enthusiastic enthusi-astic sisters of the Holy Cross hospital when speaking of th improvements which are "now )eing made in their institution. in-stitution. More than $60,000 is being expended for modern surgical and laboratory equipment alone. Besides this a large amount is being spent on the construction construc-tion of an addition to the hospital. The west wing of the - building is being enlarged, en-larged, four rooms which are to be used for operating being added to the rear of the wing, and an entire third story will bo erected, running from tho extreme rear to the front of the wing. A solarium, so-larium, or sun parlor, will be placed at each end of the floor. The Holy Cross hospital now has four operating rooms and, with the completion comple-tion of the construction, some time in June, a new set of six modernly. equipped operating rooms will be in use. These will be separate! into three general gen-eral operating rooms, two specialists' operating op-erating rooms and one "pus case" room. The very latest equipment will be placed in the rooms and every provision for the ease and comfort of the patient will be made. 'Recuperating rooms will be provided pro-vided so that patients coming out of the ether will be given an opportunity to recover entirely before being wheeled to their rooms. An X-ray laboratory will be installed, and three laboratories, physical, pathological patho-logical and chemical, will be under the charge of specialists, who will investigate investi-gate the causes of diseases and seek frir . remedies. The conquering of the dreaded dread-ed influenza vjll be their first duty. An ice-making and refrigerating plant is being be-ing included in the building.
