Show SANTA MONICA RACE LURES BOLD DRIVERS SANTA MONICA. Cab, March 6. Seventeen Sev-enteen entries, including some of the world's greatest drivers in l tie speediest of automobiles, are assured for the Santa Monica road race to be held here on March 15, according to the Los Angeles Motor Car Dealers' association, which is managing the event. At least five more are expected. The race will be for 250 miles, over a course 7 6-7 miles. The prizes amount to $9000. The first prize will be $4000, the second $2500, the third ?1500, the fourth $1000. Expenses of drivers and cost of shipping cars from the middle west and east will be met by those in charge of the ; race, it was stated. plnterest in the race, held annually for some years till 1510, when it was eliminated elimi-nated because of war conditions, seems unusually keen. It Is expected 100,000 persons will see the speed test, j The race will start at 1 p. m. and will , be run in less than three hours, it is expected. ex-pected. An electric timing- device will be installed by which the first five drivers and their time will be displayed every lap. |
