Show YOUTH STEALS PURSE AN0 MAKES ESCAPE Snatching the purse of Mrs. Elizabeth Barber, 368 Third East street, Saturday night, as she approached her residence, a thief, said by the police to be a youth, succeeded In; making his escape before Mrs. Barber realized she had been robbed. The purse is said to have contained $14. Later in the night burglars smashed the lock on the outside of the Passer & Gold grocery, 169 Third East street, less than two blocks from where Mrs. Barber was robbed, and, after entering the place, rifled the cash register and made their escape. Detectives H. D. Lyon and Herbert Her-bert Leichter, who investigated the burglary, asserted that the burglars obtained ob-tained money and checks amounting to J70. Earlv yesterday morning the store of the Guarantee Tire & Rubber company, 451 South Main street, was broken into by burglars, v.'ho forced open a side window, win-dow, after which they opened the rear door and carried off sixteen non-skid tires. |
