Show Calder Ready to Defeat Pact. NEW YORK, March 1G. Senator William Wil-liam M. Calder of New York declared In a statement tonight that "if the plan for the league of nations is so1 tied up with the peace treaty that the peace treaty cannot be separately considered," as announced an-nounced in Paris yesterday by President Wilson, he would do all in his power "to reject the entire proposition." Senator Calder asserted that, even though the president had not called an extra session of congress, he thought senators and representatives "should return re-turn to "Washington at once and go into session." He added that to deny that congress can meet whensoever a majority ma-jority of congress sees fit is to deny that the people can meet, "since all the power of the people is vested in congress." |
