Show DEMOCRACY IS TOPIC OF K MM KMSS New York Rabbi Speaker at Weekly Luncheon of Rotary Club. Some of the phases of democracy, including in-cluding political, economic, educational and religious aspects were discussed before be-fore the Rotary club of Salt Lake at its weekly luncheon at the Hotel Utah yesterday yes-terday by Dr. Nathan Krass, New York , rabbi, who was the guest of the club. Referring to the statement of the President Presi-dent of the United States that the aim of this war is to make the world safe for democracy, the speaker declared that never before bad there been a war of such world-wide importance as this because be-cause of the essential elements of democracy de-mocracy involved. He finds that the war is serving to : create a new idea of the real meaning of democracy and is correcting an erroneous impression previously held by many people peo-ple that a democratic government meant a sort of loose government, a conglomeration conglom-eration of freedom and license "But, our declaration of principle that all men are born free and equal, doesn't mean just this," said the speaker. "Democracy "De-mocracy doesn't mean that all men are equal, mentally, spiritually or physically. Such a thing is impossible, but it means that every man has a soul and is entitled en-titled to humane and just treatment. Democracy De-mocracy does not mean the same treatment treat-ment to all, but it means fair and just treatment to each and every man. Democracy, De-mocracy, from the political standpoint, , means a government of the people, a government by the people, a government for the people. It means representation of the people in their government. It means they shall select the men to represent rep-resent them and to govern them. It means that those chosen to govern shall govern, not for themselves, but for the people. They who abuse a public trust should he removed. "But political economy is not alone sufficient; suf-ficient; there must be economic democracy. democ-racy. God has t-jven this world for the benefit of the people. No man nor group of men has the right to take a large share of the world's goods and leave the rest of the people in poverty and want. There must be an equitable and just distribution dis-tribution to all. The strong must take care of the weak. The speaker foresaw in the great war the final breaking down and elimination of religious prejudices and the cementing together in the bonds nf democratic unity of all on the brond and fundamental basis of the fatherhood of God and brotherhood of man. The sppaker foresaw as an effect or (his war the cumplote solidarity of Americans Ameri-cans and the vanishing of the hyphen in evcrv form. The Hub ro'-eivod from L. V.
