Show TO SPREAD DRAGNET FOR ALL DESERTERS Adjutant General's Office Expects General Roundup Orders to Issue. it is expected at the adjutant general's gen-eral's office that soon there "will be a general 'search made all over the United States for draft delinquents who have ' become deserters under the selective service ser-vice regulations. Orders from Provost Marshal General E. H. Crowtfer to make diligent search for these men are momentarily mo-mentarily expected. Tn spreading tho dragnet, the federal secret service, the intelligence department, depart-ment, the United States marshals, sheriffs, sher-iffs, city police and all state executive agencies will be employed. A reward of $50 and expenses up lo $50 will be paid for the delivery of a willful will-ful deserter, the decision as to willfulness willful-ness being left with the local board with winch the delinquent i a registrant-For registrant-For the delivery of a delinquent whose desertion is regarded by the board as un-wlllful un-wlllful no reward will he paid, but expenses ex-penses of apprehension up to $50 will be met by the-government. Captain F. V. FiU Gerald, draft executive execu-tive officer for Utah, yesterday received from General Crowder a statement showing show-ing the approximate rank of each state in so far as progress in the transcription transcrip-tion and transmittal of occupational cards is concerned. Towa ifi shown to be first and Utah is sixth in the table. Georgia comes last. A bulletin was sent out to local hoards from the adjutant general's office yesterday, yester-day, urging expedition in sending in their induction reports. General Crowder asks diligence in this work, saying that it is of special Importance at this time in view of the heavy mobilization of men. |
