Gilmer, general manager of the Utah Motor Car company, made the announcement yesterday, a.nd stated also that the first heavy shipment of th i four models manufactured by the International Harvester company of America has arrived and is ready for inspection. Tho entry of the Utah Motor Car conipany into the popular priced motor truck field in Salt Lake and surrounding surround-ing territory marks one of the mosl important moves of the year in local automobile circles During the years in which Utah Motor flar conipany has been tho exclusive dealer in the famous l'acliard cars, both passenger cars and motor trucks, the company has developed devel-oped a. very strong clientele and has perfected one of the largest and best Known automobile selling and service organizations in the west. The company har moved into its new two-story reinforced concrete buiding, built especially for it at 2S South Second Sec-ond East street, at the corner of Second Sec-ond ICast and Social Hall avenue. It is doubtful if any automobile distributor distribu-tor west of Chicago occupies finer cpiar-ters cpiar-ters than the Utah Motor Car company, iu this building. The greater portion of the main floor is devoted to a beau tifully finished and furnished display room for Packaid r.aesenger cars. Ou the same floor is located tho general olfices of tho company. Visiting automobile men from the east declare the Vtiib Motor Car company's com-pany's quarters are. the most beautifully furnished and perfectly arranged of anv of the large motor car distributors oh the country. Tho most inipo.-taut feature of the building, -with reference to the Utah Motor far company's truck business and the taking on at this time, of the J nterrmtional motor truck, is the fact that the bigger portion of the second floor will be devoted exclusively to a motor truck salesroom, where both Packard and International motor trucks in various models and prices will be constantly on display. This will be the only exclusive truck salesroom of its size and appearance in the west. A large portion of the second floor is devoted to the mechanical department, depart-ment, while the basement carries storage stor-age room and also a very fine parts department. In this department is carried a $50,000 stock of International motor truck parts, and an $1S,000 stock of Packard parts. In taking the International motor truck for sale and distribution in this tenitory, the Utah Motor Car company has undoubtedly secured one of the most remarkable lines of motor-driven vehicles now manufactured in this country. The world-renowned International Harvester company of America built the International motor truck, and in addition to the "built-in" service in these trucks, there is a $70,000,000 corporation cor-poration back of the International. Tho Jnternationals are made in four models, the first being model H, three-quarter three-quarter ton truck, with 115-ineb wheel base, International four-cylinder block cast engine, with International gear drive on the rear axle. This truck is designed , for light hauling and quick delivery service. Model V is a one-ton truck, with liS-inch wheel base, in the regular model, and a special 1413-inch wheel base in its specially built model. It carries a simple, sturdy, heavy-duty engine, en-gine, and is designed as au ail-purpose one-ton truck. Hodel K is a one and one-half ton truck, with 28-inch wheel base, or I-Hi-inch wheel base iu the special model. The engine is a four-cylinder, heavy-duty motor. Mode) C is a two-ton truck, with Kin-inch wheel base, iu tho regular model and a 100-inch special model. The engine is a heavy-duty four-cylinder valve in the head motor, and this is the big truck of tho International line for heavy loads. A. wide variety of bodies can be secured in any of those models, according accord-ing to the Utah Motor Car company. .The first shipment of these four models mod-els is already on display at the company's com-pany's track salesroom, and Mr. I. M. Evans, who has charge of tho Utah Motor Car company's truck department, reports a very ac1ivc inquiry on the International. Mr. Evans declares that the features of the company's truck departineut will be the carrying of a heavy stock of all models of the Internationals, so that immediate delivery cau be made to purchasers, pur-chasers, together with the fact that a fully-equjppetl service station will be mairita.ined, together with a $50,000 stock of parts. |
