Show TOBACCO AND CARDS MEET DISAPPROVAL Resolutions Condemning Their Use "by-Soldiers "by-Soldiers as Demoralizing and Degenerating De-generating Passed by Society. Eesohitions condemning tlie sending of tobne.co and playing cards to tbe soldiers, sol-diers, in which the use of tobacco and card plavinf are designated as demoralizing demoral-izing and degenerating practices, have been adopted bv the general board of tho Belief society o the Mormon church. The resolutions follow: Whereas, We have learned that Christmas packages have been sent to the Utah soldiers containing plaving cards and tobacco; and, Whereas, We, the mothers and wives in the Kelief society of the Church of Jesus Christ of La'tter- , dav Saints, have religious scruples against the use of stimulants, narcotics nar-cotics and playing of cards; Whereas. We have trained our sons to avoid these demoralizing and degenerating practices; therefore, there-fore, be it Resolved, That we do protest against this practice of sending tobacco to-bacco and playing cards to our own soldier sons and brothers, and we hereby condemn such unwise expenditure expen-diture of means in this time of war economy.
