A joint resolution repealing House Join Resolution No. 1, passed by the twelfth session ses-sion of the Legislature of the State of Utah. and proposing a new resolution in lieu thereof amending Section 22 of the Constitution o the Stite of Utah, by addir.s Section 3 the-feto, reiatins to the prohibi on and regulation of sale,, manufacture, use, advertisement of, pos session of, or traffic in intoxicating lio.uors. Whereas, House Joint Resolution No. 1, proposing to amend the Constitution oi tha Stats of Utsh by adding Sectic-i "8 to Article XXII, has been passed by both Houses of this. Legislature, and filed with tha Secretary of State ; and Whereas, the engrossed copy thereof differs in a certain important respect from the resolution reso-lution as actually passed by both Houses, :a that in the sixth line of Section 8, as proposed, pro-posed, after the word "nature" the words "and ail malt end brewed drinks" wer omitted from Eaid engrossed copy. Now, therefore, he it resplved by the legislature legis-lature of the State of Utah, two-thirds of the members iiectcd to each of the two Houses concurring ; Section 1. That it is pro-nosed to amenf) Article 22 of the Constitution of Utah by adding Section 3, thereto, which section ehall read L follows : Section S. The manufacture, sale, keeplnj or storing for -sale or g fie ring- or exposing fo? sale, or importing, carrying, transporting, ad vertising, distributing, giving away, azciiang" ing. dispensing, or serving ef all fermented malt, vinous or sp.ritucus liquors, alcohol, wine, porter, ale. boer, absinth or any othep jntoiicatins drink, mixture or preparation oi like nature; and all malt or brewed drinks) fruits preserved in alcoholic liquors of any kind; and all beverages conlainins in excess of one-half of one per cuntum of alcohol by vol itme; and sll mixtures, compounds or prepara tdons, whether liquid or not, which are jp tended when mixed with water, or otherwise, to produce by fermentation or otherwise an intoxicatin- liquor, are hereby forever prohibited pro-hibited in the State, except alcohol for scientific scien-tific and manufacturing purposes, and win used for eacramental purport-. Section 2. The Secretary of Stale is hereby directed to submit the proposed amendment contained herein t" the electors of the Stat at the next general election in the manner provided pro-vided by law, instead of the resolution as embraced em-braced in House1 John, Resolution No. 1, heretofore ried by this Legislature, and which is hereby replied.
