Show SITS ABE Wlfffl li CRUCIAL BATTLE L. D. S. U. Trounce Granite Quintette in Hard-Fought Contest. In one of the hardest-fought hoop bat-j bat-j ties of the season the L. D. S. U. defeated de-feated the Granite five yesterday afternoon after-noon by tho score of 31 to 21. The game was played In the latter's gym before the largest crowd of the year. The Saints displayed greater speed throughout the entire game and led practically all the way. The Gran:tians played good ball, but were suffering from the effects of their recent game with Bingham, in which several of them received injuries. With the whistle for the opening game the Saints immediately took the lead with a field goal. They continued to take advantage of their opponents' bewilderment bewilder-ment and before the first half had been completed the score was 17 to 10 in their favor. When the second period started the Granitians rallied strongly. They battled their way gamely and finally succeeded in overtaking their opponents.
