Show "DIXOH CHOSEN f,5 ' CHICAGO DELEGATE Will Represent Salt Lake Federation at Big Labor Convention. J. S. Dixon, secretary of tho Salt Lake : Federation of Labor, was elected as delegate dele-gate last night at a meeting of the fed- eration to attend the convention of union delegates in Chicago for the purpose of planning a campaign to obtain a new trial for Mooney and Billings. The convention conven-tion will be hHd January 14 with representatives repre-sentatives present from every branch of tho Federation of Labor in the United StiiU-s. A Alooney mass meeting will be held in Salt Like nn January 9. Fifty delegates' from Seattle, fifty from Sa n Francisco and sereral from other western cities are expected to be present as they will stop hero on th-ir way to Chicago. W. D. Local labor leaders declare tnat the action of Governor Stephens of California Cali-fornia in commuting Mooney's sentence of death to one of life imprisonment is unsatisfac'ory to organized labor and that a new trial should be granted him. Lon D. Haddock of the vocational training department of the University of Ltah, addressed the meeting on the subject sub-ject of the extension work in vocational training. It was decided to appoint one man from each union to co-operate with the extension division of the university to promote the work in Salt Lake. |
