Show MORE BOYS NEEDED TO WORK FARMS State Council of Defense Requests Aldj of Youngsters; Meeting Called for Today. More boys to go out oTi the farms are urgently called for In requests sent to the state council of defense and received yesterday at the offices of J. Edward Taylor, state director of boys. Mr Tavlor and J. Challen Smith, city director, have called a meeting of the lads who will volunteer for agricultural work to be held at the state capitol at 9 o'clock this morning. Yesterday nine boys from Park City and seven from Tooele were added to camp No 7 which left at 1 o'clock in the afternoon after-noon over the Salt Lake Route for Delta, where thev will work In the beet fields. Albert Schnell, 92S McClelland avenue, is the camp leader. Mr. Taylor and Mr. Smith are anxious that parents realize the importance of this work and prevail upon their sons to attend the volunteer meeting to be held this morning. Later on, Mr. Taylor says, the girls will be called upon to give their help. They are to be employed in fruit and berry picking when the time comes, and it is expected that they will give the Htate valuable help in its effort to Increase In-crease and conserve the food supplies of all kinds. It is pointed out that not only does this work of the bpys and girls give assistance assis-tance to the farmers and horticulturists, and consequently to the state, but that It Is of distinct service to. the nation In its hour of need for preparation for what may be a long and trying war period. |
