Show AUTO TURNS OVER; PASSENGERS HURT J. W. Maurer and Two Companions Suffer Severe Scalp Wounds. A miraculous escape from death or serious seri-ous Injury was the experience of three men and two women early yesterday morning when a Studebaker car in which they were driving near Lay ton turned over once and a half while running at a high rate of speed. J. M. Maurer of Bingham, an employee of the Utah Copper company and a deputy sheriff, was the driver of the machine. Two men and two women were hla passengers. Maurer himself suffered a severe scalp wound nfTd two black eyes. One of the girls suffered suf-fered a scalp wound, an injured elbow and a fractured hip, and one of the men suffered a sprained wrist. The injured were carried into the home of Peter Hiragary, near by, and attended by Dr. A. V. Tanner of Layton. Dr. Tanner Tan-ner after attending the injured took them to the Layton station of the Bamberger i road and they boarded the first car for Salt Lake. The automobile was completely wrecked. The blowing otit of a rear tire is given as the cause of the accident. |
