Show GIVE MLEffll PRESENT OF WHICH Employees of Kimball & Richards Honor Associate Now in Service. As a token of their friendship and regard re-gard after several years' .association, the employees of Kimball & Richards, land merchants, presented Robert Mitchell, Mitch-ell, formerly cashier of the firm, with a handsome silver wrist-wateh at a party given in his honor at the home of C. Clarence Neslen on Monday evening. Mr. Mitchell is a member of A company, com-pany, Utah artillery, now temporarily encamped at Fort Douglas. The enlistment enlist-ment of Mr. Mitchell is the unusual story of a young man so determined to serve his country that he went through a sergical operation at heavy expense to himself in order to pass the pkysicul ; examination necessary for army service. Immediately after war was declared, he, with a number of friends, enlisted in ; Uncle Sam 's service. Under physical j examination, it was discovered that an operation would be necessary before he could be accepted. Not content, however, how-ever, Mr. Mitchell went to a local hospital hos-pital for two weeks and after fully recovering re-covering from the operation again "submitted "sub-mitted himself for examination. After a thorough test under the inspection of a number of physicians, he passed and was later accepted as a member of the Utah .artillery. The party given in his honor on Monday Mon-day night was a tribute to his loyalty and showed the high esteem in which he is held by his fellow employees. The party was an immense success, games and music and light refreshments being enjoyed throughout the evening. All of the members of the firm and their wives were present. - Kimball & Richards-state that earlv fall business has already started and that the demand for cottages and mod ern homes is already evident from the number of inquiries being received every ev-ery day. It is expected that the supply sup-ply of new homes built this year will not meet the demand, as home' building . has not been up to normal during the summer. With the rapid increase in Salt Lake's population, it is almost certain cer-tain that a heavy over-demand for homes will be felt before cold weather starts. |
