Show MEMORIAL PARADE 10 BE HISTORIC EVENT i ' - Schools, G. A. R., National Guard, City and State Officials Of-ficials and Elks to Join. PATRIOTISM RAMPANT Line of March to Be Elaborately Elab-orately Decorated ; Martial Mar-tial Music by Bands. Celebration of Memorial day, beginning begin-ning this morning, will be in keeping with the spirit of patriotism prevalent throughout the nation. Flags will be set at half-mast at 8 o'clock and will be raised at 12 o'clock noon. At 8:30 o'clock an automobile cortege will move promptly from the Elks' lodge on State street to the various cemeteries of the city, where the graves of the departed de-parted heroes will be fittingly decorated. Before the parade at 11 o'clock all ceremonials cere-monials at the cemeteries will have been completed. Promptly at 11 o'clock the parade will march, beginning from the Eagle gate and proceeding down Pouth Temple to Main street, thence to Fourth South, thence to State, thence to the Eagle gate, where it will disband. On the return re-turn march the parade will halt in front of the Elks' lodge, where a review will be held for the governor and his staff, Commanding Colonel Alfred Ha sbrouck, the commanding corsair of the G. A- R., and the exalted ruler of the Elks. The Dadies of the G. A. R. have been accorded places to view the parade from the Grand hotel balcony arvd the ladles of the Relief corps at the Kenyon hotel. No ladies will be admitted without badges. Boy scouts will be in charge. All school children with flags will be given a special point of vantage to witness wit-ness the parade and will be stationed immediately im-mediately back of the guard ropes stretched along the line of march. The boy scouts will assist the police in han-j han-j dling the crowds. Orphans Elks' Guests. Forty children of the Orphans' Home and Day Nursery will watch the parade in front of the Elks home as guests of the club. Boys of the state industrial school at Ogden will be furnished transportation trans-portation to Salt Dake by the Elks, i All men who participated in the war ; with Spain, Philippine insurrection and Chinese expedition are cordially invited to join with the United Spanish War Vet- j erans In their Memorial exercises. The : meeting place will be In the Mackintosh i block. Second South and West Temple ; streets, at 9:30 o'clock in the morning. The veterans will then proceed to the City cemetery by street car. An outstanding feature of the parade will be the appearance of 220 officers and men of the Twentieth United States infantry. in-fantry. The Elks have arranged for the transportation of the soldiers on their return re-turn to the fort. Pupils in Line. The school children of Salt Lake, Sandy and Murray who will participate in the decoration activities will be provided with free transportation. This arrangement was made by Harry S. Joseph, chairman of the parade committee, in conjunction with the Utah Eight & Traction company. com-pany. The utilities commission granted permission to the company to give its services ser-vices free to the children. A conspicuous feature of the parade will be the group of Elk newspaper men who will carry a large Tribune flag. The Elks will be distinguished by Old Glory buttons, but-tons, their own colors and carnation ptnks. P. P. Chrlstensen will lead the Elks and James Devine will bear the colors. Both will be mounted.
