A. t'hiirron, sales manager man-ager of the l't;ih Idaho Motor Car com, pany, who recently returned from a visit to the Maxwell factory in lVtroit, never before has ho known so voat n improvement im-provement in any factory as that which has taken place 'in the Maxwell institution institu-tion during the past year. Kiom office to foundry, 'harron stated yesterday, .the entire organization has been improved im-proved and the very latest methods of efficiency lun'e been adapted. In spenking'of the Maxwell institution yesterday, yes-terday, (.'harron .said: ' ' The manufnetui e of the Maxwell hns been reduced to an exact science, and the entire organization of the Max-'well Max-'well company goes along as smoothly as I though it were a great piece of clock work. Kfficieney has been increased to po tyent an extent in order to hold the ; p'.ee of the Maxwell down, that it is - I.iow possible to assemble an entire car in less than two hours. Each man has n ' his work to do. ami from constant repe-1 repe-1 i 1 i t ion of the task becomes as expert in I iti performance as a Paderewski at the pianoforte or a sharpshooter at the traps. "The old road test, which is still in use in many factories for trving out the , lKiwer of ears as they are finished, has ! been supplanted in the Maxwell fao- i ' tones by the dyuamometer test. A number num-ber of these grim machines have been ; installed at great cost, and when a Max- well oar is completed it is immediately ; tested on one of the dynamometers, Tvhich proves not alone the power de- : veloped bv its motor, but also the power actually delivered at the rear wheels. I The dynamometer is absolutely exact in i its work anil is considered far superior ) to the old road-testing methods. I ''The production of the Maxwell will i increase this year, and no fewer than 150,(100 finished cars will bo completed by the end of 1917. A very large number num-ber of cars have been held at the factory fac-tory because of the freight car shortage, short-age, and in some parts of the country Maxwell dealers have been unable to make immediate deliveries for several j months. The shipment which I" secured will relieve the shortage in Maxwells in j this region until the end of the freight car trouble, and immediate do- liveries will be possible from now on." i |
