The formal announcement of George E. Crum for the no mi oaf ion of governor on the Republican ticket wad given to the public today. Mr. 'Tiim ha- ben a resident of 'Idaho for seventeen y&rs, a member of the state senate for lour years dur-' dur-' ing the creative legislation, a member of the state board of trustee uf the j Lev.iiton ritato Normal (school for I eight years, and prominent in lvewigton and community affairs during hia entire en-tire r'-sidenco in the state. Mr. Crum s announcement follows: 1 have definitely decided to become be-come a candidate for the KepoJ)-li'-an nomination for governor of Idaho. ThU decision accords with, mv o-wn ambition to serv the people peo-ple of thi state and the expressed desire of many of its best citizens for me to become a candidate. In t he va rious ways open to me I ha ve made a reasonably thorough test of the advisability of such action ac-tion on my port. Personal contact with Republican Repub-lican workers from various parts of the state, letters from prarti-cnlly prarti-cnlly everv country and a friendly attitude of the stato press have induced mo to believe that the call to service if clear, insistent and sincere. Under the circumstances it seems to me my duty, as a citizen citi-zen and a Republican, to enter the contest for tne nomination. During Dur-ing the progTPss of the primary campaign T shall define the policies pol-icies which T believe shouW obtain in state government. I am impressed im-pressed with the duties this announcement an-nouncement involves. No man of character or high regard for citizenship citi-zenship can view it lightly. I am In the race with the best there is in me for Idaho and for the Republican Re-publican party, and am in to stay and lo win. |
