Show JOHN HAYS HAMMOND LOSES DAMAGE SUIT BALTIMORE, Dec. 29. That John Haj's Hammond, the mining engineer, by falling: to see that stock in the General Cotton Securities company was returned to Addison G. Dubois, a patent attorney. an3 Willard Poremus, an inventor, had made himself liable to $235,700 damages, was the verdict rendered bv a jurv in the superior court here tonight. An appeal ap-peal will b taken. It' was alleged that Mr. Hammond obtained ob-tained possession of and converted to his own use sLock of the General Securities Securi-ties company belonging to Dubois and Doreinus and yalued, respectively, at $477,500 and $960,000. On behalf of Hammond, it was stated that after spending: $100,000 in an effort to develop a cotton pin invented bv Doremus, and finrhna: that it was not a success, the defendant called a meeting of the directors of the securities company com-pany and had adopted a resolution frivinc the patents back to the plaintiffs In the suits against him and dissolving the company. |
