I. and prominently identified with other oth-er local .business institutions, was appointed ap-pointed a member of the state fair board yesterday by Governor Simon Bamberger to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Mrs. Bamberger. Mrs. Bamberger, believing that sutfi-, cient honor had been bestowed upon the; family by the elevation of her husband j to the chief executive's chair, tendered; ; her resignation as soon as the new gov- i ; ernor assumed the duties of his office. ' "While no announcement to that effect ef-fect has .been made and the governor's office remains discreetly quiet on the subject, it is understood that Mr. Rom ney is slated to succeed J. G. McDonald McDon-ald as president of the state fair board. Mr. McDonald asserted last night that he had not tendered his resignation as president, but as to the reorganization of the board under the new administration administra-tion he offered no suggestions. Several changes in the personnel of the state fair board arc expected within with-in the next sixty days, as the terms of six members will expire in March. The board will meet March 1 to select officers of-ficers of the State Fair association for the ensuing term. Although the board selects its own officers it has been customary cus-tomary to respect the recommendations of the governor. The board is composed com-posed of twelve members. The positions posi-tions are honorary, but contingent expenses ex-penses are allowed to members. Mr. Romney is a son of Bishop George Romuey and has been connected with Z. C. M. 1. for twenty-seven years. For twenty-two years he was cashier of the institution "and during the past five years he has served as treasurer.
