Show MILK WAGON USED TO CHASE SUSPECTS Two alleged thieves, driving a buggy, were chased by Patrolman E. Clawson in a milk wagon on South State street early yesterday morning and they were not caught until the officer fired a shot at them when near the corner of Ninth South street. W. F. Hap wood, 24 years of age, stayed In the buggy, but his companion dashed along a side street. Clawson took Hap-wood Hap-wood and the buggy to the station, also one live chicken and a dead one, found in a sack in the vehicle. Thirty minutes later the police were notified that a night watchman on State street was holding a man who was believed be-lieved to he the one who jumped from the buggy. Patrolmen A. S. Thomson and R. C. Willey placed the man under arrest. He gave his name as William Wade and his age as 35. Hapwood and Wade were booked on suspicion of theft. The police are looking look-ing for the owner of the chickens and nl.o the owner of the horse and buggy, it not being believed that they belong to the two men in jail. |
