During the short business day yesterday yester-day the telephone bell in Governor Wil-j Wil-j Ham Spry's office at the capitol jingled ; merrily, being calls from citizens who wanted to tell the governor they were glad he had consented to become a candidate to succeed himself and to assure as-sure him of their support. Tho governor was kept busy answering answer-ing these calls aud thanking his hosts j of supporters and well-wishers. Not a j f ew of the calls were long distance, from out of town voters who wanted to let the governor know without delay that they were "for" him. Governor Spry did not get time yesterday yes-terday to make up the personnel of his campaign committees, as suggested at the meeting of business men Friday night at the Hotel Utah, which induced him to 'corue out for re-election. Over the week-end " the governor will give consideration to this matter and expects to have his committees ready for announcement an-nouncement Monday. Many of the governor 's callers yesterday, yes-terday, like the men at Friday nigm's meeting, proffered their services to his campaign. Friday night 's meeting invited in-vited his excellency to select any of them or all of thorn for his committees if he so desired, and all of them expressed ex-pressed a determination to do some active ac-tive work in his behalf whether on committees or at large. Appreciates Friendship. Talking with callers yesterday, the governor reiterated the feeling of ap-: ap-: preciation and satisfaction he expressed Friday night that so many representative represent-ative citizens of the state had regarded his service as chief executive such as to urge his continuance in office for another term. The governor 's friends expressed great satisfaction that the executive had come out for re-election. Singly and at various times they had urged Mr. Spry to be a candidate and when other candidates candi-dates began to come out and commenced their campaign preparations, they determined de-termined to waylay the governor and exact an announcement from him. They were highly gratified over the results of Friday night's meeting. When the governor's committees have been named, his friends, headed by the members of such committees, will begin active work to insure Mr. Spry 's re-nomination re-nomination at the Republican nominating nomi-nating convention, which will be held in Ogden August 9. Activity Is Increasing. From now until that time political activity will gradually increase, not merely in connection with the gubernatorial guberna-torial nomination, but with all the offices of-fices on the state ticket and on the congressional con-gressional tickets. With the official announcement this morning of Nephi L. Morris that he is a candidate for the Republican nomination nomina-tion for governor, all of the gubernatorial guberna-torial hats are supposed to be in the ring. Those candidates who have announced an-nounced themselves, besides Morris and Governor Spry, are Edward E. Jenkins, John C. Mackny, Oscar W. Carlson and former State Senator D. O. Rideout. The Jenkins forces have had campaign cam-paign headquarters open for a week at the Hotel Utah. They have scheduled meetings there of district and precinct Workers for Monday and Wednesday nights. Mr. Jenkins yesterday issued a campaign cam-paign statement in which he declared himself in favor of statewide prohibition prohibi-tion and "economy and efficiency in all departments of state administration. " With reference to the prohibition question ques-tion Mr. Jenkins says ' ' I am unqualifiedly unquali-fiedly in favor of statewide prohibition prohibi-tion by immediate legislative enactment. enact-ment.
