Show Spring Clean - up Drive Wins Lions Sponsorship Clean-up, Paint-up, Fix-up Drive Set For April; Central School Playground Improvement Asked; Jr. C. of C. Play Will lie Club Attraction Discussion of a spring clean- . up campaign by the Lions club members was the main business studied by club members Tuesday Tues-day evening at the Italian-French cafe. Clean-up, paint-up and fix-up fix-up was suggested as a slogan for the campaign by Mayor Ed Johnson, John-son, chairman of the civic improvements im-provements committee of the club. A drive to beautify Bingham Canyon will be made the latter part of April, dates to be announced announ-ced later. In announcing the campaign plans, Mayor Johnson stated that today everything is competitive and that landlords must realize this and keep property attractive to renters. Property owners must be as progressive as merchants in attracting at-tracting and keeping business, or they will lose their renters to landlords of other communities, he pointed out. A plan to have the community improvement committee, including includ-ing Mayor Johnson, George Evans, Ev-ans, John Stampfel and Sam Sturm, meet with committees from the junior chamber of commerce, com-merce, Women's Civic club, city council, American Legion, Volunteer Vol-unteer Firemen, Boy Scouts, church and school representa- tives was approved by the club. A community -wide spring spring clean-up, paint-up and fix-up campaign that will be the most effective ever promoted in Bingham Bing-ham Canyon, is to be outlined and carried through by these civic groups. School Grounds The muddy condition of the Bingham Central school ground was discussed by the Lions. A j suggestion was made that gravel be requested from the county j and hauled by city trucks to ! temporarily fill mud holes. A I committee including Leland Bur- ress, Earl T. James and Joe Scus sel was named by Dr. Paul S. - Richards, president, to request a meeting with Charles Beck- j stead, superintendent of grounds f for Jordan district schools. The 1 committee was instructed to plan ij for a permanent remedy for the ii causes which result in flooded school grounds. jj Ladies Night A ladies night banquet will be I held 6 p. m., Friday, April 7, at f the Masonic hall. Following the banquet the Lions and guests will attend in a body the junior I chamber of commerce play, "Cat I O' Nine Tails", at the Bingham Central school auditorium. :' O ! |
