SERAPHS II FROM CHERUBS II OPENER Girls' Indoor Baseball at East High Begins; Some Brilliant Plays. The girls' indoor baseball series at the Eaet high school opened yesterday afternoon after-noon witn the Sophomore Seraphs triumphing tri-umphing over the Junior Chembs, 17 to 14, in a game featured by hard hitting on both sirios. Tomorrow the Freshmen Celestials and the Senior Angela battle in the second of the series. The sophomores were in a hitting mood yesterday and clouted Irene Lewis and Trieste Pearson hard, although their support sup-port at times was not of the best. The shortstops made several neat plays In the fielding line, while Miss Pearson hit the pill with a vengeance. For the Seraphs brilliant fielding featured. fea-tured. Miss Camorah Davis and Miss Frances Collier alternated between first base and the pitching slab, and their work in the field was of the first-rank variety. One-hand stops were numerous and the entire infield showed much nbility to cut olf apparently certain base hits. The usual large crowd was !n at-, at-, tendance, with the sophomore boys root-j root-j ing hard for their class to win, while a j combination of freshmen, juniors and sen-, sen-, iors pulled for the Cherubs, but to no avail.
