Show JACKLING TAKES HIS YACHT TO NEW YORK j Mining Magnate Completes Cruise of i 17,300 Miles; Will Return by Rail. By International News Service. 2s EW YORK, June 1. D. C. Jack-ling, Jack-ling, San Francisco mining magnate, brought his $1,500,000 yacht, Cyprus, into port today, after a 17,300-mile cruise from the Golden Gate via Cape Horn and South and Central American ports. Eighty-three days were occupied for the voyage and the yacht, one of the largest and handsomest craft ever built, maintained an average speed of thirteen and one-half knots an hour. From. Havana Ha-vana to this port, the last lap of the cruise, an average speed of sixteen knots was Jogged, equaliug the best time of the regular passenger and mail steamers to Cuba. The cruise was made f or pleasure only. With Mr. Jack ling were Mrs. Jackling, Judee K. R, Babbitt, Charles Hay den and Mr. and Mrs. Sherwood Aldrich. At Valparaiso the owner and his guests left the Cyprus and crossed to Buenos A ires by the Trans-Andean railway, joining the yacht again at the 1 Argentine port. The Cvprus will remain herp this summer until her ownnr comes back for another cruise from this side of the continent. |
