Show Inquest at Whitby. WHITBY, England, Dec. 17, via London. Lon-don. Dec. IS, 1:55 a. m. At the inquest today over the bodies of the two men killed in the German naval raid, a coast guard officer testified that the entire bombardment wus directed at the signal station, between 100 and 150 common shells being tired. Tbe first shell struck the cliff fare, which gave the coast guard men time to clear out. 'The officer said the property damaged in the town was In the line of tire. The jury returned a verdict that tbe men came to their deaths from shells fired from German ships. |
