Show UTAH ATHLETES HUE PHI FOR MEET Three Members of Inter-mountain Inter-mountain Team in Quarters Quar-ters at San Francisco. Special to The Tribune. SAN FRANCISCO, July 2S. From all over the coast and fntermountahi states the cream of athletic talent and cinder path stars, accompanied by their various managers and trainers, are arriving for the great struggle of muscle and brawn that will take place in the far-,western field and track championships on the exposition ex-position tracks Friday and Saturday of this week. Ten cinder path stars arrived from Portland under the guidance of Manager Martin W. Hawkins and Trainer William Wil-liam Hay ward of the University of Oregon. Ore-gon. The Oregonlans went over to the University of California to train. Looking fit and ready for the championships, cham-pionships, three members of the Inter-mountain Inter-mountain association tam Clinton Lar-sen Lar-sen of Brlgham Young university, Johnny Prime and Clinton Luke put In an appearance ap-pearance this morning and -were quartered quar-tered out at the exposition grrounaa to train for their events, tn which Larson is expected to do wonders in th high .lump. Included among the representatives of the northwest are Earn Stenstrom, the Washington sprinter, who is expected to give a good account of himself. He, to-gether to-gether with Paul Clyde, a brother Wash-ingtonian Wash-ingtonian and also a sprinter who will eet a fast pace, are quartered with the northwestemers over at Berkeley, where they have the advantage of being able to train where the cold winds from the ocean do not strike the track. The exposition track is said to be in fine shape, Dad Moulton, the famous Stanford university trainer, having made It his especial duty to see that the field was made as perfect as possible for the athletic ercrairts. j |
