Show COHMIY TREE 15 A HUGE SUCCESS Large Attendance at Event in City and County Building Grounds MUSIC IS A FEATURE Hundreds of Children Par ticipate in the Big Musical Musi-cal Programme With ideal weather attendant the community Christmas celebration in the City and Countj build ng grounds last night proved a un que hoi day event Between 2000 and 3000 persons vis ted the tree dur ng the evening and a fairly large crowd gathered to hear the mns cal programme which was begun at 7 o clock n the even ng The tree a perfect evergreen glowed r chly m its equipage of t nsel and col lcwitr it T.ilKn TT j j . i.ili. J1UUU1C(J9 KtL LI L LIU ch ldren gathered about it and lifted the r child sh vo ces in song On the topmost spr g of the beautiful tree was a great star cluster of 1 ghts The programme began w th the sound ing of trumpets by a squad of mounted high school cadets who rode through the streets from tho monument corner blowing thefr bugles and drew rein at the west steps of the City and County building Before their coming the chimes of the great clock in the tower had been set to ringing beyond their prosaic wont so that by the time the cadets arrived hundreds of persons most of them children were waiting Band Gnes Selection. Soon after o clock the high school band rendered a selection m excellent fashion and was followed by L. P Chnstensen in a trumpet solo A feature of the programme was the 8 .nRn of carols by a band of school children under the direction of Hugh ft " buhwi UL LOLUUC 1X1 LUC pU D lie schools In some of the numbers many of the spectators joined This a Ided a real touch to the event, and brought out the Christmas spirit as the formal programme eoold not have done The entire musical profrsrnme was un der the direction of Professor Squire oop aided by Hug Douaall and C P Christensen It was & noteworthy effort n spite of the fact that this was the Brat community ChriBUraw tree affair In bait Lake.
