Show SECRETARY ADEE IS TO RETURN HOME LONDON, Aug. 25. 2:40 p. m. Alvey A. Adee, the American assistant secretary of state, lias arrived in London from the bcandinavian peninsula. He will leave Liverpool tomorrow on the steamer New York for New York. While traveling in France, Mr. Adee was ordered by Secretary Bryan to attend the Spitzbergen conference at Christlania which Is framing a government for No Man s Land. Being In Christlania, Mr. Adee assisted in the relief of Americans stranded in Scandinavia and was instrumental instru-mental In sending more than 800 of his countrymen back home. He believeB there are about 1500 Americans still in Norway and Sweden. Madame Rosicka Schwemmer, president of the Hungarian Woman's Suffrage association asso-ciation and press secretary of the International Inter-national Woman's Suffrage alliance, after interesting a number of prominent London women in a movement for peace, also leaves Liverpool tomorrow for New York, where she will endeavor to Interest American Amer-ican women in a movement to have the United States mediate to stop the European Euro-pean war. |
