Show HUDSON BAY STILL FILLED WITH ICE ST. JOHN.?. X. F., Oct. 22. Immense Im-mense masses of ice, driven to and fro with every chance of wind, have remained re-mained in Hudson baj- throughout the summer and fall, according to officers of-ficers of the steamer Bonaventure. under un-der charter to the Canadian government, govern-ment, which has just returned from the second of two trips this season to Port Xeison. The season's work at that port, where the government is preparing a terminal for the Hudson Bav railwav. is practically ended, and the other steamers which have carried men and materials there will leave shortlv. Surveying and nietc-oroloeicaf parties par-ties which have been studving conditions con-ditions in the bay will come out on the cruiser Acadia. Work on the breakwater in tho Xeison estuarv, where the government plans to create a safe harbor, has made considerable progress, and it is expected dredging will begin next summer. |
