WASHINGTON, 0( t. dinner tonight in honor of the United States supreme court ami commemorative of its 125th anniversary, presided over by Former President William H. Taft and attended by Chief Justice White and the associate justices of the court, closed the annual meeting of the American Amer-ican Bar association. Peter V. Melrtrim of Savannah, Ga has been elected president at the final business session. Tho compromise of the race o'"1'011 18 10 membership by the rescinding of the 1912 resolution, which declared it had never been contemplated con-templated that negroes should become members, permitted an adjournment without a sinele contest on the floor. The executive committee, under the rulin" of tho race question, was also empowered to pass upon the administration adminis-tration of women, three of whom applied ap-plied for membership. |
