Show German mm USE ISDESTRQYED Oil, Battery Plates and Extra Torpedoes Found on Shetland Islands. (Correspondence of the Associated Press.) LONDON, Get. 14. British war vessels ves-sels have destroyed' a Herman submarine sub-marine base in one of the uninhabited rocks of the Shetland islands in the Xort-h sea, according to a report from Scotland. It is said that there was a large stock of oil, battery plates aud extra torpedoes stored there for submarines sub-marines striking at the North sea fleet. Another report concerns a German wireless station near Lovh Lomond. Messages have been intercepted constantly, con-stantly, but all efforts to find the apparatus ap-paratus failed, so the rumor runs. Some shipping men believe a story that .be Oceanic was struck by a tor-; tor-; pedo from a submarine and ran upon the rocks of the Scottish coast to save the crew. Such reports spread always during 1 war times, but the suppression of news by the British censors leads to more ttan the customary crop of rumors. |
