The Knights of Columbus have reserved re-served a section of the house tonight and will attend tho performance with their ladies. A large audience was on hand for the opening performance Iat night. The Klks ami the poor families probably regretted that every seat was not taken, but the t heater was comfortably filled and all hands took on expectant pmil" when Charies Kent appeared in the it and began waving the baton over the heads of an enlarged orchestra. That meant that the curtain wan going to go up. It did go up, too right on time and revealed a stag crammed with youth, beauty and chivalry, fringed with gaily-garbed end men, as black as the better coal whi-h corner in the what-vuh-may-callem wagons. The Francis Fran-cis X. Bush man like charm? of such Adnnise as Harry Klliott and Charley Bakes were concealed behind burnt cork, but listen bau t v greater than theirs bewitched the ey1. Togged out as a shabby and morose mo-rose colleen, she sans "Irish Blueis" and wept beautiful stAge tears. The audience audi-ence persisted in laughing at Miss King's pretended blues, since every -now and then she forgot her role and grinned audibly. She was recalled for more laughing blues. Do Pretty Dancing. Miss Mae O'N'olll, the tine host bet of Salt Lake amateur shows, was a prominent promi-nent and popular member of this ravishing ravish-ing minstrel first part. M iss ( )' Xei ll's number was "Beautiful Roses." aid title having nothing on either Miss O'Neill or t the line quality of her voice. Two extraordinarily pood dan-e numbers num-bers by local young women added bizarre and graceful interpolations to this part of the entertainment. MUs Merredes (Jil- : son, in a costume remindful of T.eonore I'lrlrh, did a graceful and beautiful Ifa- , waiian dance while the fetching chorus sang, with syncope tions, "The Bird of , Paradise." Miss Ui lion's artistry, her i lattice-work costume and Ihe rhythm of the number elicited loud approval. So it , was with Miss Bessie- Craig, who danced I the sailor's hornpipe. ! One must not forget James J. Bradley's Brad-ley's sertous song number. "Norway " It was not the national anthem of that land, but proved lo be a modern Anierira.n I ballad. Having run out of Dixie. Tenne-' Tenne-' see, Alabama and Normandy themes, the ! song writers are turning to Norway. Be I that at tt may, the song nnd Mr. Bradley's Brad-ley's rendition both found favor.
