Show NUN' DAMPENS OGDEN'S FOURTH Nearly All Celebrations Called Off Because of Heavy Storms. Special to The Tribune. OGDEN, July 4. Unseasonable and exceptionally heavy rains not only dampened, but gave the Fourth of July festivities a severe drenching in. this city and vicinity today. For only a few hours late this afternoon was there suficient real weather in sight to warrant war-rant a person venturing out of .doors without a rain coat. That was between 3 and 7 o'clock. Nearly every celebration cele-bration and picnic party schedulod for the day was called off, few Ogden peo- pie venturing even to the canyon and Lagoon. The heavy hail and rainstorm of Friday Fri-day afternoon was followed during the early morning hours and throughout the forenoon by intermittent downpours that continued up until 1 o'clock this afternoon. Then there was a period of sunshine, and there were prospects for at least a pleasant evening, but the weather man resumed operations at 7 o'clock with a downpour equal to those of any during the day. The precipitation precipita-tion for the past twenty-four hours has been the heaviest recorded in this city for many years past. |
