Show special mm PRiVfLEGEJS ASKED Eusiness Men Desire to Make Improvements on Upper Main Street. If the city commission will grant a petition filed with the city recorder yesterday, Main street from North Temple to First South, First South from State to West Temple, and West Temple from South Temple to First South will be among the best lighted districts in the United States. George Romney, as president, and E. M. Ashton, as secretary, of the Upper Business District Owners' association, asks that the association be given the privilege of installing a special lighting light-ing system. Further plans for the general improvement im-provement of property on upper Main street were made by the executive committee com-mittee of the association which met vesterdav morning in the Hotel man. George Eomnev was elected permanent chairman of the organization and E. M. Ashton secretary. The executive committee is composed of George Eomnev, Eom-nev, C. W. Nibley, J. C. Cutler, Heber J. Grant, F. E. McGurrin, W. N. Williams, Wil-liams, P. W. Madsen, W. E. Wallace, Charles Tvng, N. W. Clayton and E. Im. Ashton. Three committees were appointed to make investigations as follows: J. C Cutler, Charles Tvng and W. N. Williams, Wil-liams, to work with the legislature to obtain better lighting in the district; E. M. Ashton, W. R. Wallace and Charles Tvng, to look after the cleaning clean-ing up of First South street between Main and State streets, with a view of establishing a higher grade in general gen-eral of business houses; W. N. Williams, Wil-liams, E. M. Ashton and J. C. Cutler, to take up the matter of tax assessments assess-ments of the upper Main street district dis-trict with a view to seeing that the propertv owners get a square deal. Another meeting of the executive committee will be held in the Hotel Utah Monday. |
