Show GDWVIGT ESCAPES FROMJOAD CAMP Willard Thompson Eludes Guards in Washington County. Willard Thompson, a. twonty-year prisoner pris-oner of the Utah state prison, oscaped from th... convict road camp In Washington Washing-ton county last evening at 5 o'clock. Word of the escape was telephoned to Deputy Warden A. C. Ure last night by Guard Edward Jamiev. In charge of the road camp. The escape was accomplished accom-plished by Thompson at the time of the evening meal. Deputy Ure did not get details of how It happened. A reward of $50 for the capture of rhompt-on was offered by Deputy Warden Ire last night as" soon as he received word of the escape. Thompson, who was known at the prison as No. 2175. was committed on June 29, 1910. sentenced to twentv vcars tor robbery, having been found guilty, together with a -confederate, of holding up tr Clift gambling house. He Is 2G years of age. stands 5 feet 10J Inches In height, weighs ISO pounds, is of medium complexion, has gray eyes and brown hair and wears a No. 0 shoe. The letters W T. and an anchor are tattooed on his left forearm. He has a burn scar on his left wrist and another on the back of his right hand. His teeth arc noticeably even. It Is not believed that the man will succeed In evading capture because or the fact that travel has been made, difficult by the recent heavy storms. According to. the word received by Deputy Dep-uty lire, the guards of the camp have a clew to tho direction taken by the escaped es-caped man. He Is known to be desperate and it is expected that because of the long sentence which he yet had to serve will fight if he ever succeeds in arming himself. |
