".Four political conventions con-ventions will bo held ln Uintah county within thc next two- weeks. The Progressives Pro-gressives will name a full ticket on October Oc-tober 10. They arc po strong ln tho county that there will not be more than enough regular Republicans left to hold a convention. Tho Progressives will draw but lightly from the Democrats and the latter parly will, It now appear, get three from the Republicans to where thev will lose one to thc Progressives. There Is strong talk of T. W O'Donnell for the legislature on the Republican ticket. He woa former county attorney and Is tho present city attorney. Vivian Watklns. a young attorney at-torney Just out of Columbia, 1b tho Progressive Pro-gressive candidate for district attorney, and thc Indications are that ho will give Harvey Cluff. Ropubllcnn Incumbent, a close race The Democratic candidate Is City Attorney Donald of Hebcr. Tt hns been Intimated that Don B. Col-ton, Col-ton, president of the Uintah stake, will be a candidate for the legislature. He served one term ln the lcglnlature soon after ho came out of college. When the county went "dry" a yenr ago he was fulte active for tho local lo-cal optlonlsts and as a result made enemies ene-mies of many of the "wets." Information has reached here to the effect that word Is being snt flown the, line from church headquarters tnnt Taft ought to carry Utah and already some of those who were on the fence are said to be falling back on thn Taft side. A large number had pon so far that they dare not try to get back on the Taft side. |
