Speaking of tho organization and its work lust night, Mrs." Murdock said: During the twenti'-six years of the- existence of the organization it lias grown from a small aid to an international affair with 540 divisions which are located In the United States, Canada, Mexico and the caual zone, and which includes in-cludes 24,000 members. The order is independent of tho Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and its membership is confined strictly to ,, the wives or widows of the members mem-bers of that order. Daughters, mothers, and other relatives of the engineers arc not admitted. It is strictly a benevolent body and it has been in the lead in all movements for charity. In 1S90 the members instituted a voluntary volun-tary relief association which is regarded re-garded as a.n insurance and membership mem-bership in which is optional with the members of the auxiliary. Through this part of the work an avorage of from $7000 to $10,000 is sent to families of deceased members ever' month. Start Orphan Fund. In the entire life of the organization organ-ization it has never been in financial fi-nancial embarrassment. It has always al-ways hud sufficient means for the demands upon its treasury. The most recent move of the organization organiza-tion aud one on which the members mem-bers are still working is the creation crea-tion of a fund to care for dependont; orphan or half orphan children of tho members. The fund will be known as the Silver Anniversary fund and $12,000 has already been raised -by free Avill offerings from members toward the $100,000 which we hope to secure. A fcatUTa of tho insuranco policy carried is that when a member is widowed, old and dependent, she receives a portion of the policy each month as a pension instead of having it left to her descendants after her death. Our work here will be largely to exemplify the secret and ritual work of the organization for the members of the different divisions which will be represented here.
