Show YEARS AGO In Bingham (Nov. 22, 1918) The influenza situation in Bingham was very serious. Town and county authorities joined j hands to stamp out the epidemic. Dr. V. S- Harrison, assistant surgeon sur-geon in the United States health service arrived to assist in control con-trol work. Six Bingham residents succumbed during the week. According to the fifty-second quarterly report of the Utah Copper company for July, August Aug-ust and September of the year 1918, total production of copper reached 53,311,943 pounds, or an average monthly output of 17,-770,648 17,-770,648 pounds, as compared with an average of 17,254,928 pounds the previous quarter- Total net income was $5,3 10,01 159 for the quarter. Copper was selling at 24.044 cents per pound. Copper rose from nine cents to 11)4 cents per pound. H. B. Aven, governor-elect of the Utah-Idaho Kiwanis district, attended the annual three-day council meeting of the International Interna-tional Kiwanis meeting. Safeway Stores opened a new store at 488 Main street- The latest refrigeration system and cooling plant and a well-arranged market attracted much attention. |
