passenger train has gone through the bridge at haverhill mass and that there have been three killed and twenty injured boston mass jan 10 nothing positive from the reported accident at haverhill has yet been received but telephonic advises advices from that city state that at 1 the express from boston went through the bradford bridge over the merrimac river and that seven dead bodies have already been taken from the wreck and forty four passengers are reported injured haverhill mass jan 10 the portland express which left boston for portland at 1 met with a serious accident this afternoon be tween bradford station and the haverhill bridge over the merrimac biver caused by the rails spreading near a frog on a curve whore a turn is made to run on the bridge the train consisted of an engine two e cars a smoking car a parlor and three passenger cars the engine passed safely but the smoker and two other cars left the track the smoking car ran on the bridge and I 1 turned over one coach smashed into the water tank house and another through the sleeper the crash was fearful and the cries of the people terrible to hear the cars did not take fire six persons are known to have been killed several others are expected todie and many others are more or loss seriously injured the train was on time and running at the ordinary rate of speed physicians were summoned and the wounded and goodwin wife and child kennebeck maine an unknown man having a card in his pocket with the name of J hazleton fifty two passengers in all were wounded some badly one of the saddest sights was the death of mrs 0 P her little daughter of kennebeck mrs goodwin was riding in the second passenger car with her little child in her arms both were instantly killed as was also her husband A still later
