The last regular meeting of the outgoing city council was held at 0:00 o'clock this morning. Roll was called by the recorder and the mayor and the entire council responded. These were Mayor Frank Daley and Councllmen J. W. Thompson. E. J. Bcggs, James L. K earns, W. J. Buck and W. P. West-field. West-field. The minuter were read and approved and the council voted as appropriation appropria-tion for the recqrder for extra work. Only six petitions for Honor licenses were presented, although there are sixteen six-teen saloons now running. The six petitioners. pe-titioners. F. N. Salsbury. J. C. Crooks, Anderson '.v Cnrlson. Wynu & Wynn, Pat Clark and Sprlggs & Crooks, were granted grant-ed licenses. Before adjournment the mayor thanked the council. recorder anil police- department depart-ment for the support, that Ihey had rendered ren-dered him ami wished them all a happy and prospeious new year. Record Ls Good One. The record of the outgoing council Is one that will not soon be eclipsed. It has done more than prohably all of tho other city councils since the city was Incorporated. In-corporated. A now wntcr system has been Installed at a cost or more than jr.O.OOO and the entire business district has been paved. The treasurer's report at- the close of tho vcar of MOD showed cash on hand amounting to ?lSr.4.Hl. with outstanding warrants amounting to Today's report shows a cash balance of 510.asri.21, after deducting all bills for Improvements except the water system, which Is protected pro-tected by a bond Issue. Outgoing Police Judge Ii. II. Waters submitted a report thnt showed that he had heard .riC7 Cases, only five of which had been appealed These cases aggregated aggre-gated $f007 in fines. The sexton's report re-port showed that there had been seventy-two seventy-two deaths during the year. Now Council Takes Charge, At noon today the new city council toolt charge of the city's affairs. The secretary and recorder. Mrs. Mamie Holland, Hol-land, called the roll and thoso present were Mavor John F. Welch and Council-men Council-men N. "J. Mctiill, John Swentficld. F. M. Smith. Thomas Paul and J. Vf. Thompson. Tho mayor stated briefly that the onlv business for the meeting would be the" filling of the appointive offices. They proceeded to ballot at once and tho result was as follows; Carl Evans of Salt Lake t'ltv. city attorney; Charles Malr, cltv marshnl and also street commissioner commission-er "and chief of the fire department: James Doran. Edward Malln and John MeKav. policemen: Henry Crossinan, police po-lice judge, and Richard GUI, city janitor. The following standing committees were appointed by the mayor: City property.
