Show JOHN W. RIGDON DIES AT AN ADVANCED AGE John Wycliff Eigdon, aged 82 years, son of Sidno3 Rigdon, ono of tho first men to be associated with Mormonism, died early yesterday morning at tho L. D. S. hospital of the infirmities of age. He had been confined since early in March and his death had been expected ex-pected for somo time. M.r. Bigdon had been a resident of Salt; Lake since 2904, when he became a Mormon convert. Prior to that time ho guincd some distinction ou tho lecture lec-ture platform and with the pen, Ho was looked upon by those of Mormon faith as something of an authority in matters of the church's early history, owing to his associations with Joseph Smith, the founder, and with Sidnoy Itigdon, who is known to the church as ono of tho "three witnesses" to the Book of Mormon. A widow and several children living in Lob Angeles survive Mr. Rigdon. There are other relatives living iu tho east For several years he had been indigent in-digent and had been cared for by friends, among them being several prominent officials of the -Mormon church. Funeral arrangements have not been made pending communication with the widow, who is in ill health at her home In Lob AngeleB. |
