Show YOUNG MAN IS CHARGED WITH GRAVE OFFENSE G. F. Held Alleged to Have Made Assault Upon Youpg Woman In Office. G. F. Held, 29 years of age, manager of the O. K. Cleaning company, .107 Atlas block, Is held at tho city Jail on the charge of assault, with Intent to commit a statutory offense Upon Miss Florence! Chllds, aged 17. a stenographer. The young woman swore to the complaint before be-fore Assistant County Attorney Jenson and the warrant upon which Held was arrested by Detective Janney was Issued from Judge Bowman's court. The girl's story Is that in answer to an advertisement she applied at HMd's office for employment as a stenographer, and was accepted. When she reported for work Friday afternoon, she sayst Held locked the door and attacked her. While she struggled with him another girl rapped on the door, and Held shoved her Into an inner room. Miss Chllds says. Locking the door between that and the outer office. Held, she says, (illicitly dismissed dis-missed his visitor and resumed his struggle strug-gle wlih her. Miss Chllds escaped, she declares, ran into tho elevator, then summoned sum-moned assistance, notified the police and got tho complaint against Held. , William Wol8tenholm, Jr., elevator man at the Atlas block, says that when the girl ran Into the elevator she was crying and, almost hysterical. Held, when seen at the citv jail, snid he had nothing to pay except that he believed be-lieved a. scheme was being worked against him, but admitted that he had "never seen Miss Chllds before and expressed surprise when Informed that she had caused the complaint to be Issued. |
