Show 1 HUGH SCHOOL NOTEsj The members of the exhibition squad will drill with the companies for a while before the extended order movements are taken up for competitive work against the Ogden cadets and also the battalion at Logan. The range tha"t will be used bv the cadets for rille practice will be completed complet-ed this week. The targets are the only parts yet to be made. A now svstem of electric lighting has been Installed. The members of the senior and Junior classes are enthused about the fact that the annual flag rush will probably be held. The matter will be taken up In the congress, and. If passed, will become part of the school atbleti,cs. Manager Gus "Backman of the debating team has received word from Park City to the effect that the Park City high school debating team would not meet the local team again until next year. Tho high school team will continue to debate wlthas many high school teams In the stale as possible. Now that the gymnasium is not being used after school hours, the senior class will mccL and complete arran-icmcnls for tlic matinee dances. If possible, a dance will be held every alternate week on Friday Fri-day afternoon, so that school work will not be Interfered with. Captain "Webb met with the cadet captains cap-tains Monday and discussed the recent cadet ball. The affair was a great success suc-cess in every way, and the dance stands as the foremost ever given bv the bat-' talion. Much to the pleasure o'f tho committee com-mittee in charge, the century mark -was passed after all bills wore paid. This money will bo put into the battalion treasury. The fourth period American history class, under Prof. I. D. Travis. Mondav debated the question: "Resolved. That the electoral college should be abolished and the president be elected by popular vote." The debate was one of tho best since the mld-ycar and was highly enjoyahle. The Judges decided In favor of the negative, which was supported by Joseph lingbeelc as first, speaker, and William Tgleheart. The affirmative was taken by P.obert Edwards Ed-wards alono. but he was unable to stand against his two opponents. The judges were Paul liny, Leland Shafcr, Dora Skcwes, Arthur Doran and Keen Miller. |
