Show HUMAN REMAINS RECOVERED FROM BATTLESHIP MAINE Work of Bringing Up Parts of Famous Vessel Is Progressing Steadily. HAVANA. Jan. 3. The Ursl human remains re-mains from tho wreck of the old battleship battle-ship Maine wora brought lo the surfnee today by a dredge. Thoy consisted of two ribs und some small bones, apparently apparent-ly of tho hand: Thoy were carefully placed In a spccial mccptaclo to await the recovery of othor purls. Tho dredge also brought up sonic throe-Inch throe-Inch shells, a largo quantity of coal, and a portion of the coal bunkers lying apart from the ship, which is considered as possibly confirmatory of the theory of an external explosion under tho hunkers. This, however, cannot be verlllcd without a further examination f the wreck. The work on the hulk Is continuing without Interruption the men having expressed ex-pressed a willingness to await the settlement set-tlement of (ho question of overdue pay and oilier grievances. |
